choirOvation, (Marlborough Girls’ College Senior Choir), is one of four performing groups at the school. Ovation is however considered to be the flagship for performing excellence at the college and has been for many years now recognised nationally and internationally as such.

Ovation is in constant demand from the local community of Marlborough to perform at annual events and festivals in the region. High on the list of these festivals is the Big Sing.

International travel is a regular feature of this group’s busy schedule, with an overseas trip occurring every second year. Participation at the World Choir Games is high on the priority list for this group to compete at in the near future. 

Frequency and length of rehearsals: Twice weekly at lunch time and individual section rehearsals once a week for 40 minutes.

Notable Achievements: 4 silver and one gold award at the International Music Festival. Winner of the Auahe Kore Award at the 2004 Big Sing.
